It’s been a case of shopping in brown boxes during the last twelve months, but now it’s time to return to Golden Square Warrington for shopping, food, and fun!

In spite of all the negative news about major stores closing throughout the UK, over 100 Golden Square stores, bars, restaurants, and cafés open their doors again on Monday, April 12th, ready to welcome everyone back to shop safely and enjoy some much-needed retail therapy.

And the Golden Square team has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the centre is fully compliant and in great shape for shopping.

Golden Square’s Centre Director, Ian Cox, plans to move ‘at a pace which mirrors the government roadmap’ to bring the buzz and vibrancy back to the shopping centre as soon as possible.

He added: “When we have permission to ramp things up we have already got things in place to do so.

“From April 12, our outside space will become Warrington’s biggest outdoor eating and drinking square. We will have the tables and chairs set out as a huge communal space. We’ve got the bars and restaurants and a pop-up bar ready to open and there’s room for at least 250 people to meet safely.”

“May 17 is the next benchmark where we’re looking at slowly reintroducing events.”

“We’re launching The Secret Comedy Club in May, which is going to be huge, and live music planned for the summer, including GS being the main stage for this year’s RivFest, and we’ve got a socially safe screening of the Euro football tournament, and later in the year we’re an Official Fanzone for the Rugby League World Cup.”

And Golden Square’s advantage over its shopping rivals, The Trafford Centre and Liverpool One? Ian Cox says, “It’s about enjoying more quality time. We’ve all been locked down and isolated for the last year. People are going to want to enjoy every valuable moment of their new-found freedom! So why spend time stuck in traffic jams heading to Manchester and Liverpool when you could be spending it having fun and enjoying your favourite stores, cafés and restaurants right here on your doorstep in Warrington?!”
