GREAT Sankey Market is returning after a successful launch at Christmas.

Following the government's easing of lockdown restrictions, the pop-up artisan market with a focus on food and crafts made by independent traders will be back at The Woodlands pub in Liverpool Road on Saturday, April 17.

There will also be arts, handmade gift ideas, craft alcohol, ceramics, jewellery, pet products, home decor items and candles and wax melts.

The dog friendly outdoor event will then be monthly every third Saturday with free entry.

There will be around 50 stalls.

Great Sankey Market is hosted by Independent Street which champions and provides a platform for independent businesses and producers in the area.

Visitors can not only shop but to find out the origins of their items and meet the makers such as Warrington success story, 3 Pugs Gin.

Warrington Guardian:

Lisa Cowley, from Independent Street, said: "After the huge success of our Christmas event last year we are delighted to be working alongside Great Sankey Parish Council to deliver a fantastic community event showcasing 50 local and often award-winning small businesses.

"We will still have all of our Covid secure and social distancing measures in place until restrictions are lifted later on this summer.

"Our traders will really look forward to seeing you all and will appreciate your support after a very difficult year.

"We all can't wait to get back to doing what we love."

The first Christmas market followed a consultation Great Sankey Parish Council had with residents which indicated that 63 per cent of respondents wanted to see a market in the area.

Visitors are encouraged to come on foot where possible.

There is limited parking onsite at the pub.

Overflow parking is available at Sankey train station.

The pop-up Great Sankey Market returns to The Woodlands pub on Saturday, April 17, between 10am and 4pm with free entry.
