GRITTERS will be out in Warrington this evening ahead of expected freezing conditions in the town overnight.
Warrington Borough Council will be gritting major routes from 4pm today, Tuesday.
Despite the sunny weather over the Easter bank holiday this weekend, the town has been hit by hailstones and even snow this afternoon.
And the adverse weather is expected to continue overnight, with temperatures as low as minus two degrees forecast between 4am and 6am on Wednesday.
A council spokesman said: “It’s going to be freezing tonight, and the gritters will be out on the main roads from 4pm.
“Please be aware of the road conditions and drive safely.”
