A YOUNG entrepreneur is not only making money by selling clothes online, but also spreading awareness about preventing waste and buying second-hand.

Becky Chorlton from Lymm runs Becky's Bazaar, focusing on reselling vintage clothing pieces on an app called Depop.

She is also running a clothes collection service during lockdown to reduce waste.

The 22-year-old said: "I started selling my old clothes from my wardrobe in July 2019 to make a bit of money to fund university.

"It quickly became a fun hobby and I started making a bit of money from it.

"Pre-lockdown my mum and I would spend our Sunday mornings at car boot sales in Warrington to find some bargains.

"I also find a lot of my stock from charity shops and Facebook Marketplace.

"I am continuing to work on my business full time alongside a master's degree from Exeter University.

"My main aim with this venture is to prevent waste and clothes going to landfill, as I know with charity shops closed more people are throwing away their unwanted clothes.

"To prevent this during lockdown, I have started a clothes collection service to reduce waste and limit the strain on charity shops when they eventually reopen."

Becky's efforts have so far raised funds for NHS charities, Mind, Shelter, St Rocco's Hospice and British Red Cross.

You can find Becky's Depop shopby searching for @beckysbazaar on Depop and Instagram.
