AN interactive map released by the government has revealed the number of Covid-19 deaths in each area of Warrington.

Data from the Office for National Statistics showed that Penketh and Cuerdley has had the highest coronavirus death toll of any ward in the town since the start of the pandemic, with 47.

Fairfield and Howley, Callands and Old Hall and Grappenhall followed with 37, 28 and 27 respectively.

Central Warrington, Culcheth East and Hollins Green and Great Sankey all had 23 recorded deaths related to the virus.

Meanwhile, Oakwood and Gorse Covert had the lowest number with four.

Sandymoor, Daresbury and Preston Brook had a combined total of six, while Stockton Heath and Hillcliffe and Culcheth West and Croft both had eight.

Bewsey and Dallam had the fifth lowest, with nine Covid-19 deaths.

The interactive map shows the number of deaths registered between March 2020 and January 2021 where Covid-19 was the main cause listed on a person’s death certificate.

Neighbourhoods are broken down into a system designed to give areas an average population of 8,000.
