A MAN caught by police in breach of his suspended sentence has been given another chance by the courts.

Levi Taylor, of Lovely Lane in Whitecross, failed a roadside breath test after being caught out by officers on a patrol station forecourt.

The 28-year-old avoided being sent to jail in September 2019 when he was slapped with a suspended sentence for escaping lawful custody, theft and assaulting an emergency services worker.

He was told that if he commits another offence in the foreseeable future, he will not be given another chance.

Mike Stephenson, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court how a number of police officers present at the petrol station on December 9 when Taylor pulled in driving a Vauxhall Astra.

Alongside him in the car was his wife, with three children in the back seat.

One of the officers ran a check on the vehicle and discovered that there was no insurance registered.

After confronting the defendant, they conducted a roadside breath test after smelling alcohol. The test was subsequently failed.

At the conclusion of the sentencing hearing, Taylor was told that his existing suspended sentence would be extended by six months.

He was also sentenced to one month in prison suspended for seven months and disqualified from driving for three years.

After passing his sentence, judge Stuart Driver said: “If you commit a further offence or you do not do what the probation service tells you, you will be brought back before this court and you will not get another chance.”
