ANOTHER Warrington Town player has been confirmed to have left the club in order to continue playing this season.

Striker Josh Amis becomes the sixth member of Paul Carden's squad to have secured an opportunity to get games in Welsh football.

He joins four of his teammates at Flint Town United after defenders Evan Gumbs and Eddie Clarke, versatile defender/midfielder Mitch Duggan and striker Jordan Buckley confirmed their deals with the club yesterday, with winger Jack Mackreth joining Bala Town.

Amis joined Yellows in 2018 and has scored 19 times in 53 appearances for the club.

With Yellows seemingly unlikely to play again this season, the club have been actively encouraging their players to continue playing where they can.

With that in mind, the club's hope is they will be able to bring back all five players along with the rest of the squad when they can resume training and matches.

In Wales, the Cymru Premier – the country's top-flight football league – is classed as elite sport and is set to resume fixtures in the coming weeks.

Duggan is one of the club's longest-serving players having been one of manager Paul Carden's first signings when he took over in October 2016.

The 23-year-old has made 87 appearances in a Town shirt, scoring two goals

Mackreth joined the club ahead of the 2018-19 season and was a key component of the side that came so close to promotion during that campaign, losing in a 'super play-off' to King's Lynn Town for the final place in the National League North.

His 62 appearances for Carden's side have yielded 11 goals.

Having been signed from FC United of Manchester partway through last season, Buckley has shown impressive form during his time at Cantilever Park, scoring seven times in 15 appearances.

Gumbs rejoined the club from Tranmere Rovers this summer having made 36 appearances over three separate loan spells previously.

A hamstring injury suffered in pre-season meant he was not fit to play until the last time Town were in action – the 3-1 FA Trophy defeat at Marske United in December, a game in which he scored.

Left-back Clarke was signed just before the second national lockdown in November, meaning he played just twice for the club.
