The following is taken from our obituary page of a much-loved member of the community in Warrington.
WENDY Carey, widow of Jim Challinor and Peter Carey, has died aged 85, on December 17.
Wendy was born in Warrington and lived in Fearnhead.
She was the retired proprietor of Jim Challinor Sports in Warrington named after her husband Jim, a former captain of Great Britain rugby league.
She leaves one son, two daughters, eight grand children and two great grandchildren.
Wendy had a wide circle of friends from several luncheon clubs and coffee mornings and was a members of Fearnhead WI.
She arranged many of their days out, walks and visits to the theatre and concerts in venues such as the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, jazz evenings at the Grappenhall Community Centre and Pierpoints.
She loved the company of many family and friends, arranging parties and enjoying family walks.
Wendy loved to travel, visiting countries including America, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
She enjoyed cruises to various destinations in the world.
A service was held on December 31 at Walton Lea.
Wayne O’Brien, a celebrant, officiated.
