A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl with a big heart has decided to start 2021 with her best foot forward by walking a mile a day throughout January to thank our brave doctors and nurses.

Holy Cross Primary pupil Isabella Naylor from the town centre has been inspired to help doctors and nurses.

She has been learning about the NHS's role from her aunty, who works in ICU at Warrington Hospital, and the nurses who delivered her new sibling.

At school she has been taught all about how much our NHS is helping in the fight against coronavirus.

Inspired by this, she asked her proud mum Natasha Lawton, 29, if they could raise money.

St Helens Star:

Mum-of-two Natasha said: "We were watching TV and she asked me what charity was so I explained and she decided that she wanted to help our doctors and nurses because we shuld be so proud of them.

"Well I've just had a baby so my baby hormones are all over the place so I cried and said 'of course we can' and as we are doing walks to exercise everyday, we decided to set ourselves the challenge to walk one mile a day throughout January with a minimum of 15 miles, to raise money for the doctors and nurses via NHS Charities Together doing so much to help us.

"She has loved it so far, we have asked for donations online and we've raised £140 so far, she's so excited and it's lovely to see.

"She came up with the idea of helping others all on her own, she's such a kind little girl and I'm just so proud of her."
