ST HELENS Council have apologised to residents for the disruption to recycling services over the festive period, as regular collections are starting again.

Over Christmas and New Year, many areas across St Helens have put out their recycling, and due to disruption and adverse weather conditions, many pick ups did not take place.

Recycling collections on residents' normal calendar started on Monday, January 4, however there are still delays.

A spokesperson said: "We'd like to thank residents for their patience over the holiday period, following disruption to recycling collection services. We apologise for the delays.

"We are now making recycling collections on your regular collection day.

"If your regular collection day is Monday, we are making collections on Monday, and the same applies to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

"Brown bins remain on the altered Christmas schedule until Monday, January 18.

"The easiest way to check your collection dates is to enter your postcode online at www.sthelens.gov.uk/collections.

"If you have a collection due on Thursday and Friday please ensure that you place your recycling out for collection.

"There will be a lot to collect and this may delay us while we collect everything.

"If we are delayed in making your collections, please leave your recycling out for collection – we will make your collection, even if this means we are delayed until the following day.

"We have recycling crews working throughout the rest of this week, including the weekend, to ensure that we make your collections.

"Once again, our thanks for your patience over the holiday period and our apologies for the delays."
