FAMILY of Jordan Welsby have spoken of their pride after he became an organ donor following his death.

The 26-year-old Blackbrook ARLFC player died after being hit by a car on Prescot Road on Boxing Day.

His family today revealed in a tribute to him that he became an organ donor on New Year's Day, saving the lives of others.

They said: "Jordan fought so hard for all his family and friends as we prayed around the clock for a miracle at his bedside.

"Alas the miracle that we prayed for could not be provided but due to Jordan’s selflessness and wishes a New Years miracle was able to be granted.

"In the early hours of New Year’s Day Jordan became an organ donor ensuring others could celebrate the New Year with renewed hope and with the ultimate gift of life.

"Unselfish to the very end. We are all so very proud of him."
