A DRONE operated by Cheshire Police will be deployed in the sky above Warrington town centre this weekend.

The force says that the tool will assist officers on the ground by giving them a bigger picture of what is happening should any issues unfold.

There will also be an increased police presence in the town centre over the weekend, and people are encouraged to raise anything concerning with officers.

“We will be deploying our drone over some town centre locations tonight and tomorrow night as an extra tool to help us keep our communities safe,” Cheshire Police explained on Twitter.

“Planned locations include Warrington, Chester, Crewe and Macclesfield.

“Operated by uniformed police officers who are authorised by the CAA, it won’t be much different to the existing CCTV network in town centres.

“But seeing a much larger area in one picture will help us respond more quickly and efficiently to any issues that arise.

“We will have extra officers on the ground too, so if you see anything that concerns you or want to report something, please let them know.”
