BUDDING young artists were offered the opportunity to see their artwork proudly displayed on a care agency’s Christmas cards.

Bridgewater Home Care Warrington launched its first Christmas card competition this year to spread some festive cheer to offset the gloom of the second lockdown.

The winning design was chosen by the Dallam Lane-based agency’s Facebook followers and nine-year-old Lacie-Lee Thomas was thrilled to hear she had won a £20 gift voucher.

She was also informed that her design would be professionally printed and sent out to all of Bridgewater’s contacts.

Registered Manager Joanne Swindells said: “Staying connected with the younger generation has been more difficult than usual this year for many of our clients.

“We think a Christmas card is one way to show support and compassion for one another, and we are sure our lovely clients will be delighted to see the card designs.”

Bridgewater Home Care had ambitious plans to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, but they were sadly put on hold by coronavirus.

Instead, activities moved online, with staff taking part in a Zoom event and celebration boxes being distributed to all staff in advance of the virtual event.

Managing director Phil Eckersley added: “I am so proud of everything that we have achieved over the past 10 years.

Warrington Guardian:

“We would not be where we are today without our wonderful, hardworking staff who are all so passionate about helping others in the community.

“It is so important to send Christmas cards and letters as a way to connect with people to help end loneliness for those on their own this festive period.

“Many of our clients are unable to leave their home, which can lead to them becoming lonely and their mental health deteriorating.

“I want to thank all the young people for taking part and for sharing their fabulous designs with our Facebook followers for our Christmas card competition this year.”
