THE laboratory testing specialist that devised a kit which can detect coronavirus in minutes is looking to give back to the community this Christmas.

AlphaBiolabs, which based in Westbrook, is supporting vulnerable children and families over the festive period with its 12 Days of Christmas campaign.

The first day sees a trolley containing £100 worth of essential foods donated to Warrington Foodbank, with the following 10 days seeing the firm donating £100 donation to 10 other Trussell Trust food banks.

On the twelfth day, AlphaBiolabs will make a £1,000 donation to Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas, which supports the 1-in-3 children living in poverty in the UK who are at risk of waking up to no presents this Christmas.

Rachel Davenport, commercial director at AlphaBiolabs, said: “Frequently, through our DNA, drug and alcohol testing, we come into contact with families and people in very difficult situations.

“We see first-hand the hardships of living in none or low-income circumstances, as well as situations where there is family violence or abuse, which forces some to turn to drugs or alcohol by way of escape.

“Often, it is the same families and individuals who turn to charities like these for vital support to see them through the next few days and to make sure their children don’t go hungry.”

AlphaBiolabs’ work is carried out across the country via a team of sample collectors and at the company’s 11 walk-in centres located throughout the UK.

“That is why we have decided on not just one, but 12 donations to charity this year, including our local food bank here in Warrington,” Rachel added.

“Both the Trussell Trust and Cash for Kids are charities that AlphaBiolabs has supported in the past.

“Both causes are close to our hearts and we hope our donations will make a small but positive difference to some of the families and children who have struggled this year, and help make the festive season just that little bit brighter.”
