A CHILDREN'S charity is holding a virtual dog show to raise some much needed funds for Childline this Christmas.

Hartford Young NSPCC is encouraging people to get their cameras out and start snapping their furry best friends, and enter the online competition.

The dog show will feature five distinct categories, including; Prettiest Girl, Most Handsome Boy, Golden Oldie (8+), Most Adorable Puppy and Best Dressed Christmas Party Goer.

Linda Barnes, Treasurer of the committee said: "The Winner from each class will receive £20 and a Winners Rosette.

"There is also a ‘Best in Show’ taken from all entries in each class, who will receive a Cup, Winners Rosette and photoshoot courtesy of LizzyMint photography.

"The runners up in each Class and Best in Show will receive a Reserve Rosette."

Each entry costs £4, with that amount considered the same as what it would cost to answer a call to Childline from a child who needs help or advice.

Linda added: "Historically, calls to Childline treble over the Christmas period.

"All proceeds raised will help to ensure that the NSPCC is still here for children and families during these challenging times."

To enter the show, you will need to submit your photo, along with your name and which of the categories you wish your pooch to be considered for.

Entries should be e-mailed to - nspcchartforddogshow@gmail.com.

The £4 entry fee (for each category entered) needs to be paid via the charity's Just Giving page which can be accessed HERE.

The deadline for entries is Sunday, December 13.
