THE final green bin collections of the year will take place over the next two weeks.

Residents who are signed up to the scheme can have their garden waste collected for the last time in 2020 between November 24 and December 4.

Subscription renewals for 2021 will open in January.

Cllr Judith Guthrie, Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member for environment and public protection, said: “To avoid any disappointment and to ensure your green waste can be collected, please make sure you do any last minute gardening before this year’s final green bin collections so your garden waste is disposed of properly.

“Because of the current restrictions we’ve seen more people outdoors, so now is the time to make sure you give your gardens a final tidy-up – cutting away any overgrown hedges that could creep onto pavements or roads, for example – before the green waste collections end for this year.

“We are also encouraging Warrington residents to look out for your neighbours at this challenging time, particularly those who are not currently able to tend to their own gardens.

“Please offer them some help or assistance with their garden or waste if needed – such as mowing their lawn, cutting hedges back from publics footpaths, putting their green bin out for collection and bringing bins back in safely.

“At times like this, we all need to work together to support others in our communities.”
