THESE are the areas of Warrington that have recorded the highest number of new coronavirus cases over the past week.

Thanks to an interactive map published on the Government’s online coronavirus dashboard, we can see the number of cases by area and each area’s rate of infection.

The map is divided into ‘middle layer super output areas’, which is a system used by the Office for National Statistics that is slightly larger than a postcode area.

The data incorporated covers a seven-day period and has been sourced from Public Health England, based on pillars one and two of the Government's testing programme.

At the time of writing, the map displayed the number and rate of new cases confirmed between November 8 and November 14.

Data for the most recent period is excluded as it is incomplete, does not reflect the true number of cases and is likely to be revised.

According to the map, Callands and Old Hall was the area of Warrington with the highest number of new Covid-19 cases after 38 people tested positive.

This was followed by Padgate and Paddington (34), Culcheth East and Hollins Green (32) and Penketh and Cuerdley (32).
