ALL season long, we have been running man of the match polls after every Warrington Wolves fixture.

With the 2020 campaign having reached its climax for The Wire – barring them being recalled for the semi-finals due to Covid issues – we are adding up the votes to see who our readers have crowned their player of the season.

We can now reveal the three players who have made the shortlist for this year’s award…

MIKE COOPER

Thursday’s bitterly disappointing play-off exit at the hands of Hull FC highlighted just how important the homegrown prop is to the team.

Cooper has proved once again this year that he is a critical cornerstone of the Wire pack, with his incredible work rate and offloading ability standing out in 2020.

Warrington Guardian:

BLAKE AUSTIN

After lighting up Super League in his debut year, the Australian stand-off finished second to Daryl Clark for this award last year.

This year has not been as prolific for Austin, but he is in contention again after scoring eight tries in 18 appearances.

Warrington Guardian:

MATTY ASHTON

What a find the flyer has been – a bright spark in his rookie year at the highest level whether at full-back or on the wing.

Having been the top try-scorer in the Championship last year, Ashton’s tally of 10 touchdowns in 14 appearances has him top of the club charts for the season.
