LONGBARN has been honoured by Britain in Bloom for a fifth year running.

The Longbarn Residents’ Association has been awarded two prizes by the Royal Horticultural Society as part of North West in Bloom 2020.

As well as picking up a certificate of recognition, it was also handed the Inspiring Others award for the first time.

Geoff Orange, chairman of the LRA, said: “During these very strange times, the Royal Horticultural Society and the organisers at North West in Bloom are very aware of the restrictions placed on entrants to their 2020 competition.

“We have tried our best, along with our volunteers, to ensure that our environment is maintained to the very best standard we can achieve.

“In this year, an amazing sense of community spirit has laid the foundations to make our community more resilient in these testing times.

“As a one off, we have been awarded two further certificates in these testing times to recognise how important and valuable our work is.

“We hope 2021 will be kinder to us all.”
