POLICE found a dog dead after they were called to reports of an animal attack.

Officers attended an address on Carlton Street in Prescot at around 6.40pm on the evening of Monday, October 26 to reports of a "dog attack".

A man and woman were reportedly injured by their dog in a garden.

Police say two people had sustained "minor injuries" and a dog was found dead at the property.

An investigation has been launched.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that emergency services were in Prescot on Monday 26 October, following a dog attack.

"At around 6.40pm, officers and the ambulance service were called to Carlton Street to the report of a man and a woman having been injured by their dog in a garden.

"A dog was found deceased at the property and both people sustained minor injuries. An investigation has commenced to establish any offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act."
