RUSKIN Drive's newly renovated gym reopened its doors over the weekend after being forced to close two days after its initial launch due to coronavirus restrictions.

The gym underwent a £1m transformation over the summer and formed part of "a bigger vision to bring a whole new holistic health and wellbeing offer to Ruskin", said operations director Stephen Palfrey.

The refurbishment involved a total redesign and luxury refit of the interior space.

The gym has been zoned into dedicated areas for functional fitness, strength and conditioning, and stretching, making the gym floor a more enjoyable and engaging space to use.

“A refurbishment of this scale was a bold move given the uncertainty within the industry, but we felt our plans had to be ambitious to give members the all-encompassing modern health and fitness facility they deserve.” said Stephen.

He added Ruskin Fitness' choice of Excite Live cardio equipment from Technogym shows how serious the facility is about creating the ultimate customer experience.

The new cardio range for 2020, Excite Live, allows members to personalise their training, tap into a huge range of content, access virtual coaching, and even have the virtual experience of training outdoors in exotic global locations thanks to the advanced technology of the Unity platform.

“We wanted the renovated club to be the best in the area, offering something unique to our members," he added.

“Not only have we upgraded to include the latest Technogym strength and functional equipment, but we are proud to have invested in the Excite Live cardio kit which will add a new dimension to our members' training.

In aiming to have dedicated areas for members to do their work to create a sense of community and promote interaction, Stephen said he was looking for a partner that could bring purpose to each area of the gym and create an overall environment suitable for the strong community of members.
