THREE lorryloads of whisky were reportedly stolen during a break-in at a distribution centre.

XPO Logisitics’ depot on Leacroft Road in Birchwood was targeted by burglars on the evening of last Tuesday, October 20.

Cheshire Police have confirmed that a ‘large quantity of alcohol’ was taken by the offenders, with the vehicles involved having been later found abandoned in the Rochdale area.

A force spokesman said: “At 6.30am on Wednesday, October 21, police received a report of a burglary at storage unit on Leacroft Road in Birchwood.

“The burglary involved the theft of three HGVs and trailers with a large quantity of alcohol reported to be inside.

“It is believed to have occurred between 9.30pm and 11.15pm on Tuesday, October 20.

“All three HGVs and one trailer were located a few hours later at an industrial estate in Middleton.”
