A MAN accused of entering a bowling club premises with intent to steal has appeared in court.

Jason William Crook, of Chisnall Avenue, Eccleston is charged with a burglary of Eccleston Bowling Club on Knowsley Road on June 10 this year.

Crook appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court to face the burglary charge, which he pleaded not guilty to.

Crook, 51, will face a magistrates' court trial in the new year.

He was granted unconditional bail and will next appear at Sefton Magistrates' Court for trial on February 26, 2021.

The Eccleston Bowling Club premises had been destroyed by fires in March of this year.

Club bosses expressed sadness after the fires saying they had "destroyed a hub of the community forever".
