WHAT do actor Michael Sheen, bedtime stories and Warrington have in common?

They are all connected to a new campaign to help protect children from cyber bullying. Warrington-based suicide prevention charity Papyrus has been working with celebrities on ‘Bedtime Stories’.

They are a series of hard-hitting films which all start in a seemingly safe bedroom but twist into a dark tale to warn of the ‘hidden dangers’ of cyber bullying and harmful online content.

Michael Sheen has been joined by former Corrie actor Julie Hesmondhalgh, Love Island’s Anton Danyluk and actress, author and singer-songwriter Carrie Hope-Fletcher on the project.

He said: “I’m incredibly proud to be part of the campaign, which highlights the very real dangers that young people face in our increasingly digital world.

“Bedtime Stories speaks to those with young children, or indeed young people in their lives, raising awareness of how the online environment can impact on the mental health of those using it and reminds them that Papyrus is here for them, should they need help and support.”

Every year more than 200 schoolchildren are lost to suicide in the UK.

Ged Flynn, chief executive of Papyrus in Lineva House, said: “We are so grateful to Michael, Julie, Anton and Carrie for lending their star qualities and unique personalities to deliver what is a very powerful campaign.”

Papyrus’s confidential helpline is on 0800 068 4141.
