TWO teenagers have been given a 'yellow card' by a crown court judge after being found with cannabis in Bewsey.

Cameron Doughty, 19, of Pickmere Street and Dillon Hand, 19, of Goldcliffe Close, appeared in Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Meanwhile, Ronan Leather, 20, of Calgarth Avenue was to be sentenced for being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

The court heard how on April 11, 2019, the three men were seen by police acting suspiciously on Lovely Lane before attempting to flee, but only Leather was successful.

The prosecution said a total of 132.5g of cannabis was recovered, which was split into snap bags of varying quantities.

The street value was between £1,280 and £1,375.

Police also recovered £325.42 in cash.

Leather later presented himself at a police station.

James Smith, representing Doughty and Michael O'Brien, representing Hand did not offer any mitigation as Recorder Taylor voiced his first thoughts on the sentence he would impose.

Keith Jones, defending Leather, stressed his client was not in same position as the others in the case.

Passing sentencing, Recorder Taylor, said: "If you were older, you would have gone to prison, it really is as simple of that.

"In football terms this is a yellow card."

Each defendant was sentenced to nine months, suspended for two years.

They must also comply with a curfew between 8pm and 6am for three months.

Recorder Taylor added: "If you commit any imprisonable offence in the next two years this sentence will be put into effect.

"It may feel like a let off, but don't risk it."
