ONE person had to be cut out of a car after a vehicle ended up on its side following a crash.

Emergency services attended Burrows Lane in Eccleston, close to the junction with Gillars Green Drive, on Monday afternoon (October 19) following a two-vehicle collision.

A white Dacia and a white Audi A6 were involved in the smash, with one vehicle ending up on its side.

One person had to be rescued from one of the vehicles.

St Helens Star:

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We were called to Burrows Lane – near its junction with Gillars Green Drive – in Eccleston to a report two cars, a white Dacia and a white Audi A6, had been in collision just before 3.25pm.

"It was reported one of the cars was on its side.

"Merseyside Fire and rescue Service attended to assist in the release of one person who was trapped in one of the cars.

"The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered and reopened a short time later."

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue spokeswoman added: "Two fire engines attended as well as the search and rescue appliance.

"On arrival crews found two vehicles had been involved in a collision. One vehicle was on its side. There was one person still inside this vehicle when crews arrived."

She added: "Firefighters stabilised the vehicles and assisted the person out of the vehicle. The person was then taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.

"Fire crews left the scene at 3.54pm."

A North West Ambulance spokeswoman added: "We were called at 3.20pm to a collision. We treated one patient who was taken to hospital."
