THERE was a closure on the St Helens Linkway this afternoon (Monday) after a crash which resulted in a woman being taken to hospital.
People are asked not to travel in the area near to the Sherdley roundabout after the collision between a Ford Fiesta and a BMW, which took place near to Elton Head Road.
There has been queuing traffic in the vicinity following the crash.
There is a closure in place southbound from the roundabout.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision involving a Ford Fiesta and BMW on St Helens Linkway at 12.20pm, a woman in her 50s was treated by the ambulance service.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident can contact @MerPolCC or 101 with ref: 423."
A North West Ambulance spokeswoman added: "We were called at 12.17pm to a collision with two vehicles.
"We sent a rapid response and two ambulances to the scene. and we took one patient to hospital, a female in her 50s."
The roads are now reopened.
