THERE may not be as many collectors and supermarkets and on the streets, but you can still give to the Poppy appeal in Warrington.

It is a very different year for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

The pandemic means there may be less collectors in person in Warrington.

But the money has never been more needed.

A spokesman said: "Since the Covid pandemic started in March, the legion has continued to provide help, advice and financial support to ex-service personnel and their families who have found themselves in great need.

"Calls for assistance for accessing food and for financial advice have increased dramatically.

Work also continues to protect the older veterans by increasing the number of staff in the care homes and the specialist dementia units and the Admiral Nurse service has also been extended."

You can still buyo a Poppy at various RBL partner supermarkets and you’ll find Poppy boxes in some of our usual outlets.

You can donate online at britishlegion.org.uk.

Or you may consider taking part in the virtual Poppy Run – a 5km event you can do on your own terms, running, walking or jogging wherever and whenever it suits you, it’s free to enter and you can download your own fundraising pack.
