CHESHIRE East has experienced a huge surge in new coronavirus cases over the latest 24 hour period. 

A total of 328 new cases have been recorded over the two boroughs of Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester combined in the latest daily case numbers. 

In Cheshire West and Chester, there have been 104 new cases, while a huge spike in Cheshire East has seen 224 new cases recorded.

The latest daily figures from Public Health England show the number of Covid-19 cases in each borough as of 9am on Thursday, October 8.

Cheshire West's number of 104 new postive tests is an increase of 22 for the previous 24 hours. 

It now takes the total across the borough to 3,374 since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile in Cheshire East, the 224 new cases is a huge spike of 137 on the previous 24 hours, with just 87 new cases recorded in the 24 hours leading up to 9am on Wednesday. 

That takes the total across the borough to 3,769 since the start of the pandemic.

Both Cheshire East and West were added to the Government’s watchlist as ‘areas of concern’ last week, and an announcement on any further measures to tackle Covid-19.
