A TOTAL of 169 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester in the latest 24 hour period.

The latest daily figures from Public Health England show the number of Covid-19 cases in each borough as of 9am on Wednesday, October 7.

They show that in the Cheshire West and Chester borough, which includes Northwich and Winsford, another 82 cases of coronavirus had been confirmed since 9am on Tuesday.

This is 23 less cases than the number recorded in the previous 24 hours.

That takes the total across the borough to 3,270 since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile in Cheshire East, which includes Knutsford, Wilmslow and Middlewich, another 87 cases of coronavirus were confirmed since 9am on Tuesday.

This is 19 less cases than those recorded in the previous 24 hours.

That takes the total across the borough to 3,545 since the start of the pandemic.

Both Cheshire East and West were added to the Government’s watchlist as ‘areas of concern’ last week, and an announcement on any further measures to tackle Covid-19 across the area is expected this week.
