A SANKEY Street bar has temporarily shut – describing the ban on Warrington households mixing as 'the straw that broke the camel's back'.

The Hideout team admitted to their social media followers that they have been 'struggling to make things work' since local lockdown and tighter restrictions came into play on Saturday.

It was less than a year and a half ago that the bar – formerly Hernando's Hideaway – underwent a refurbishment and investment.

James Glover, one of the owners, said: "We hope that the household restriction is lifted soon as we may not have a business to go back to if it's months."

A statement on Facebook added: "It’s with a heavy heart we have to let you all know that due to the ongoing restrictions in Warrington, Hideout will be closing for the foreseeable.

"We’ve tried to make it work with the local authorities and over the summer have had some great nights but now the stringent measures mean we’re struggling to make things work.

"We don’t know how long this will be in place, it may be a week or it maybe longer but I wanted to say a huge thank you to all our customers, DJs, singers and staff for supporting us over the past few months.

"Hideout will close with immediate effect but when we reopen – and it will be one hell of an opening party – we’d like you all back on the terrace and under the stars.

"Once again, thank you for everything."

It was just days ago that another popular bar, Friars Court, also announced its temporary closure due to the coronavirus crisis.
