1. CJ'S COFFEE HOUSE AND TEAROOM
Warrington Road, Penketh
This family business is best known for its friendly service, 'fantastic' coffee and 'excellent' cakes.
A reviewer said: "Fantastic coffee, lovely chocolate brownies. With the added bonus of Ben and Alison. Always friendly and welcoming. Consistently high standards."
Another added: "I love this little coffee house. They get their coffee specially blended for them. The cakes and scones are freshly baked every day. Their cherry scones are one of the best around.
"They can cater for everyone. They even offer gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. The service is fab. Everyone is very friendly."
2. RHODE ISLAND COFFEE SHOP
Old Market Place
The award-winning Rhode Island has long been a favourite spot for shoppers taking a rest after a visit to the Golden Square.
It opened in 2002 and underwent a £150,000 refurbishment three years ago.
A customer said: "A very friendly place plus they have the best coffee in town. It's my favourite place to have a coffee. Keep up the work."
Another added: "I attend daily for my extra hot latte which is wonderful and sets me up for the day.
"I'm so pleased that it is now up and running again. I feel very comfortable and safe visiting for my usual fix, and it’s really nice to see the rest of the staff returning."
3. THE COFFEE HOUSE
Eagle Brow, Lymm
This Lymm coffee shop is part of a small independent chain with branches also in Partington, Sale and Widnes.
A visitor said: "This the first time we have visited the coffee house and we were very impressed good selection of food nice cake and coffee and the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the prices are very reasonable."
4. ESQUIRES COFFEE HOUSE
The Forge Shopping Centre, Stockton Heath
This artisan cafe specialises Fairtrade and organic coffees.
A reviewer said: "Mark and his team go out of their way to make it a pleasant experience. Going back after lock down was great. Very friendly and great coffee."
5. MCDEE'S COFFEE SHOP
Lodge Drive, Culcheth
McDee's is family run where homemade quality meets cosy coffee shop.
A guest said: "I am a regular at this coffee shop and it never disappoints. Whether you are having breakfast lunch or coffee and cake it is superb.
"The cakes are all home made. Portions generous. Beautifully presented."
6. LD24
London Road, Stockton Heath
Joe Mullarkey and Sarah Whitfield became fascinated with the science and art behind the perfect cup of coffee after spending time with specialists at Carvetii, who roast coffee beans at the foot of a mountain.
Now the couple run LD24 in Stockton Heath where their seasonal handpicked blends make for 'phenomenal' coffee 'to die for'.
A reviewer said: "Love this place. Best coffee around, super friendly and great food. Really great to have indie coffee shop that knows how to make a coffee."
