AN air ambulance landed on the Town Hall lawn this morning after a man reportedly fell from a roof.

A casualty suffered serious injuries to his head and hip following the incident at an address on Cairo Street in the town centre shortly after 11am.

The North West Ambulance Service has confirmed that a male patient suffered a fall, and that an air ambulance was sent to the scene.

He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital by road.

A NWAS spokesman said: “We were called at 11.11am to a male who had fallen.

“We sent a few resources to the scene, including an air ambulance.

“The patient suffered head and hip injuries and has been transported by road ambulance to Salford Royal Hospital.”

Cheshire Police also attended the scene.

A force spokesman added: "At 11.10am on Wednesday, September 30, police were called to reports of a man who had fallen from a roof on Cairo Street.

"Officers and paramedics attended and he was taken to Salford Royal Hospital by ambulance with injuries believed to be serious."
