LIVEWIRE wants Warrington residents to share their favourite books as part of Libraries Week.

The annual week-long celebration of libraries is taking place from October 5 to 10 and this year LiveWire wants readers to get involved virtually and share their current and favourite reads.

A total of 10 of the town’s 12 libraries have reopened following the coronavirus lockdown, with the remaining two, Birchwood and Westbrook, due to open in early November.

To support the physical library service, LiveWire has recently launched a dedicated Facebook page to help stay connected with library users and share literary-themed content, as well as keeping users up to date with LiveWire libraries.

As part of Libraries Week, readers are being encouraged to join in the celebration by going online and getting involved by sharing their love of books on the Facebook page.

Some suggestions include:

  • Take a photo of yourself reading something.
  • Describe your favourite book in six words.
  • Share the most unusual place you like to read
  • Perhaps describe the plot of your favourite book using only emojis.

Wendy Molyneux, strategic library manager for LiveWire, said: "Libraries Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate books and reading and recognise the important contribution libraries make every day.

"We all know the current pandemic presents a challenging time which means, this year, Libraries Week will be delivered a bit differently.

"We now have a dedicated FaceBook page which allows us to stay connected with our communities and invite them to get involved with all the exciting book-themed things we do.

"Please like and share our Facebook page Yourlivewire Libraries and we’d love to hear from you soon."
