A BIKER suffered life-threatening injuries after Winwick Road was closed by a crash for several hours yesterday.

An air ambulance was called to the scene on the A49, near to the junction with Golborne Road and the Swan pub in Winwick, following the accident shortly before 11am on Sunday, September 27.

The collision involved a black Toyota car and a motorbike, with the rider of the latter vehicle – a 50-year-old man – having suffered serious and life-threatening injuries.

He was rushed to Aintree Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Winwick Road reopened at around 1.45pm.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At 10.50am on Sunday, September 27, police were called to a collision on Golborne Road involving a black Toyota and a motorbike.

“Officers, along with paramedics and air ambulance, attended to the scene.

“The rider, a 50-year-old man, was taken to Aintree Hospital with injuries believed to be serious and life threatening.

“He is currently in a stable condition.

“The road was reopened at around 1.45pm."
