CARDINAL Newman Catholic High School has won a prestigious award for its pastoral care.

The pastoral team at the Latchford-based high school were nominated as part of the The National Awards for Pastoral Care in Education 2020.

Thanks to their outstanding support to all pupils, the school took home the title as part of a virtual awards ceremony on Thursday.

Katie Dolphin, pastoral manager said: "It was a real honour to have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award; we were up against some very stiff competition and couldn’t believe it when Team Newman was declared the winner."

Accepting the award on behalf of the pastoral team, inclusion coordinator, Julie Humphries said: "This is more than just a job - we are a family that works closely to build relationships with students and parents.

"Our team is built upon our school values and we endeavour to live these out in everything we do."

Assistant head teacher, Rebecca Finn, added: "They work tirelessly to ensure students are happy, safe and are able to thrive.

"They make a real difference to students’ lives every single day – we couldn’t be prouder of them."
