A COUPLE who run a pub in Centre Park have created a wishing well in aid Macmillan Cancer Support.

Amanda and Daniel Crilly, who run The Waterside, came up with the imaginative way to help the charity close to their hearts as an alternative to the World's Biggest Coffee Morning this Friday.

Warrington Guardian:

Due to the coronavirus crisis and social distancing, it is more difficult for the fundraising coffee mornings to take place but Amanda and Daniel still wanted to do their bit.

Amanda said: "We are really trying to support Macmillan as they have lost out so much. Our target is £1,000 over two months and Greene King, our owners, are doing a superb job of raising funds across all its pubs. So far our company have raised £116,000 since the beginning of September."

Warrington Guardian:

The wishing well – which has interactive features and rainforest sound effects – is made from recycled items from around the pub such as pallets from beer deliveries as well as wood and branches. The couple also spent £120 out of their own pocket on the project.

Amanda added: "We wanted to raise money for a fantastic cause but we also wanted to add a bit of enchantment for our guests when they arrive in the pub – just something a bit different.

"Macmillan has been a brilliant support for some of our closest family members. My father was cared for by them until he sadly died when he just 34."
