TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of a stalwart of the town’s business community.

Colin Daniels, chief executive of Warrington Chamber of Commerce and Industry, sadly passed away this morning, Tuesday.

He has been a stalwart of the business community for many years both in Warrington and across the north west – and will be fondly remembered by many for his enthusiasm to support business.

Colin also served as a Cheshire county and Warrington borough councillor during his life, as well as acting as deputy chairman of the Warrington and Co board, the regeneration arm of the council.

The Chamber of Commerce and Warrington and Co say their thoughts are with Colin’s family, who have been a source of great support to him in recent times as his health deteriorated.

Stephen Fitzsimons, interim chief executive of the Chamber of Commerce, said: “While the chamber team is grieving the passing away of our long-serving leader, we take comfort from the messages of condolence and fond memories that are flowing in.

“Colin Daniels served the chamber for over two decades and members have been recalling occasions when they came to him for assistance and he used his extensive expertise to help their businesses through difficult times.

“Colin’s legacy can therefore be seen in the offices, shops and factories that are prospering in Warrington today because of his heavyweight support.”
