THE rise in new coronavirus cases in Warrington is showing no signs of slowing after another significant jump.

The confirmed number of new cases in the town passed the 100 mark in the seven days up to September 6.

And this total rose again to total 125 between September 1 and 7.

Sunday saw the highest number of new Covid-19 cases recorded in a single day since the end of April, with 33 tests returning positive.

Warrington’s rate of new cases now stands at 59.5 per 100,000 people, eclipsing the 17.6 rate evident in the seven days up to August 31.

Bolton continues to have the highest rate in England, which stands at 160.7 new cases per 100,000 people.

The figures, published by Public Health England, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government's testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

Data for the most recent three days, September 8-10, has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.

Here is the list in full, reading: rate of new cases in the seven days to September 7; number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to September 7; rate of new cases in the seven days to August 31; number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to August 31.
