A POPULAR pub run by a celebrity chef has expanded its offer and adapted in the face of the pandemic with the launch of a deli.

Owner Aiden Byrne's The Church Green Deli will offer 'the very best in seasonal Cheshire and Lancashire produce'.

The delicatessen will be a natural extension of the Lymm pub's offer because as well as stocking locally sourced produce, visitors will be able to pick up homemade food by The Church Green team themselves.

That includes the likes of charcuterie and Aiden’s homemade pies, which became an overnight success during lockdown, selling out daily to the Lymm community.

Aiden, whose Higher Lane pub was recently named as one of the best in Britain for the summer season by The Times, said: “The process has been long, but we wanted to get everything just right.

"We’ve got a fantastic relationship with each and every one of our suppliers and couldn’t be prouder of what we’re serving in the deli.”

Warrington Guardian:

As well as Forest Gin, Movenpick ice cream and artisan cheeses, to a varied range of meat from the Church Green’s own butcher WH Frost, Aiden and his wife Sarah have worked with Exchange Coffee in creating a unique blend of coffee beans.

With people going out a little less with the uncertainty over the coronavirus at the moment, the idea of the deli is to offer more treats for at home.

Aiden added: “We use the products ourselves within our menu at The Church Green, so everything you eat in the pub, you can also purchase from the deli to enjoy at home, along with a luxury wine or bottle of gin.

“Sarah and I are very proud of what the team have accomplished. After such a busy month in August thanks to Eat Out To Help Out, we are really excited now to focus on this fresh project, and are really thankful to our community for all their support so far.”

The Church Green Deli is open Thursday to Monday, from 8am until 7pm, and is also offering takeaway sandwiches, coffee and ice creams for residents and visitors to enjoy a taste of The Church Green at home or on the go.
