A NEW five-story block of apartments could be built on a busy Warrington road if plans are approved.

Developers want to build the block of 30 flats on Wilderspool Causeway.

The scheme would see existing buildings at 224 Wilderspool Causeway demolished.

In its place would be the housing for 25 one-bedroom flats and five two-bedroom apartments.

The current main building on the land is a former office which is a now a two-storey house of multiple occupancy.

It will be replaced by the apartments which developers say is similar to those which are next to it.

The planning documents state: "The application seeks planning approval for a five-storey residential apartment block

within a predominately residential neighbourhood set along Wilderspool Causeway.

"We believe the submitted plans demonstrate it is possible to create a high-quality unique development with architectural merit, which is both well considered and viable.

"In addition, we believe the proposed development can make a positive contribution to the area without adversely affecting the amenity of any neighbouring properties."
