THE intriguing battle between the Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants half-backs today is centred around two friends going head-to-head.

For the first time since both men moved to Super League, Wire stand-off Blake Austin will face off against his good mate and former Canberra Raiders half-back partner Aidan Sezer.

The pair played together in the Australian capital for three seasons before Austin took the plunge and joined The Wire ahead of the 2019 season.

Sezer followed a year later to join Huddersfield and is showing signs of making as big an impact as Austin did in his first Super League season.

He has led the Giants to an impressive start of four wins from six games while personally, Sezer is second on the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel leaderboard.

His tally of 11 points is bettered only by Castleford hooker Paul McShane (13) while Austin is The Wire’s highest-scoring player thus far on six points.
