BIRCHWOOD College has reported a 100 per cent pass rate in all its A-level courses this year.

The pass rate for the college's BTEC Applied Learning entries also stands at 100 per cent, with 76 per cent of students achieving either a distinction star (D*) or a distinction grade.

Emma Mills, head teacher at Birchwood Community High School said: "Congratulations to all of our students on these amazing results.

"They have all worked extremely hard while at Birchwood College and we are delighted that despite a difficult end to their academic journey with us, their grades really reflect their commitment and they have achieved the success they thoroughly deserve."

There were a number of individual success stories, including Connor Wrench, who received three D*s in his Level Three BTEC sport and applied law qualifications.

As well as picking up his perfect results, he has secured a professional contract with the Warrington Wolves.

Chris Burrows, head of Birchwood College, added: "We are absolutely delighted that despite the unsettling circumstances around the end of this academic year, these excellent results give a genuine reflection of the hard work of the young people at Birchwood College.

"Students will have been nervous about whether their grades will allow them access to the next step of their academic journey and we are extremely proud that they will in fact form the basis of some amazing degree programmes and some exciting higher level apprenticeships.

"The unique personalised learning programmes at Birchwood, together with small class sizes and specialist subject teachers have again demonstrated that Birchwood College is one of the most effective sixth forms in the north west of England."
