FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in a block of flats during the early hours of this morning (Saturday, August 8).
Three fire engines attended a block of flats on Bexhill Avenue, Orford from Warrington, Birchwood and Penketh.
At around 3.45am crews were called to reports of a fire at the block of flats.
On arrival at the scene crews found that there was a bin well alight near to the communal entrance to a two storey block of flats.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire using water.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, entered the building and one person was rescued from the building and passed to the care of paramedics.

There were no reports of any serious injuries.
Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
Crews were detained at the scene for around two hours 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, elsewhere overnight, crews extinguished a car fire on Mayfield View, Lymm at around 3.20am.
The crew then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
