A SHOP unit in London Road could be knocked down next month if Cheshire West and Chester Council gives the green light.

Graham Jones, of Douglas, Isle of Man, has applied for permission to demolish 23 to 27 London Road – opposite the former J&S Motorcycles unit, near Waitrose.

The unit has most recently been used by Whitby's Granite Products.

In his application, Mr Jones says the building is in a 'poor state of repair' and is 'beyond useful renovation'.

If approved, Macclesfield-based Cheshire Demolition will get on with the work, with the rubble set to be taken to the firm's site.

Mr Jones adds that the land will be 'cleared, levelled and fenced off' until a new use for the site is identified.

A public notice from CWAC says the demolition works are scheduled to take place in August.
