FRIENDS of the Heath supporters spotted eight species of butterfly as they took part in the annual, national Big Butterfly Count.
Kevin Griffiths from the group said: "We took a walk through the nature reserve and recorded what we saw.
"We spotted eight species, most of them near the sandpit, and I have sent our count into the survey."
The species spotted were Six-spot Burnett (1), Comma (2), Gatekeeper (5), Holly Blue (1), Meadow Brown (3), Purple Hairstreak (1), Small White (6), Speckled Wood (2).
Kevin added: "We managed to photograph six of the species; the other two, Holly Blue and Purple Hairstreak, were camera-shy."
