SHOPPERS are being asked what they think of the red barriers put up in Knutsford town centre by Cheshire East Council to make social distancing easier.
The barriers were put in place to close parking bays to aid social distancing, but have sparked concern over their value and the impact their appearance is having on attracting people to the town centre.
Knutsford Town Council agreed this month to spend £2,500 to improve the appearance of the town centre, ideally on items which could be used in future years.
Town clerk Adam Keppel-Green said: "We are working with Cheshire East Council to reduce the visual impact of the red barriers.
"They were installed to close parking bays in order to give shoppers more space to socially distance.
"We're keen to understand what shoppers think; does the extra space give you confidence to shop in the town centre safely?"
