A WOMAN who coughed at police officers during the coronavirus pandemic has been jailed.

Victoria Chadwick’s actions during the incident on Knutsford Old Road in Grappenhall back in March ‘caused large fear for personal safety’.

On Wednesday, July 15, she was handed three months behind bars at Warrington Magistrates Court in her absence.

The 35-year-old, of Broadbent Avenue in Latchford, admitted drunk and disorderly behaviour, resisting arrest and assaulting emergency services worker during an earlier hearing.

These offences also put her in breach of a 12-month conditional discharge handed down by the court in January for theft, having stolen board games from the Range on Winwick Road in order to buy heroin.

Chadwick failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

After she was detained, an application to re-open the case the following day was refused – with magistrates determining that the jail sentence would stand.

But an appeal has since been lodged against this punishment, to be heard before Chester Crown Court at a later date.

Chadwick was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122 and £50 in compensation.
