A COUPLE who met during a dance at the Parr Hall are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today, Thursday.

Beryl Mather and Brian Sutcliffe, who live in Grappenhall, got married on July 23, 1960 at St Wilfrid's Church.

Beryl worked at New World on Latchford Locks before moving to Locker Air-Maze as a secretary to the general manager.

She was also a secretary in the export division at Eagle Ottawa in Thelwall Lane before retiring to spend more time with her grandchildren.

Beryl likes flower arranging and spending time in her garden.

Meanwhile, Brian is a big rugby fan and played professional and amateur rugby league.

He was chairman of the British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA), before setting up Woolston RL under 18s.

Brian worked for Crosfields and Tetley Walker.

Until recently he was also a gym enthusiast and loved swimming.

Now 80, Beryl and Brian have two children, Karen and Neil, and three grandchildren - Josh, Lauren and Connor.
