THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust did not report any further deaths of patients testing positive for coronavirus over the weekend.

NHS England data shows that, as of 5pm yesterday (July 5), the total number of deaths registered by the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – stands at 215.

The Countess was the only trust in Cheshire not to report a death over the weekend.

The county hospital death toll now stands at 703 with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust registering 211, East Cheshire NHS Trust 143, and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 134.

As of 4.05pm yesterday, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Cheshire West and Chester stood at 1,941 – a rise of 14 in two days.
